Cotswold League Gala 11 January

Forest of Dean Swimming club hosted the first Cotwold League Gala on Saturday 11 January at Monmouth School Sports Club.

The other Clubs taking part were Bridgwater, Bristol Penguins and Monnow, with some very tight finishes and plenty of enthusiasm it was an exciting night for all. The final results on the evening were Bridgwater 171 points, Monnow and Forest of Dean joint second with 124 points and Bristol Penguins with 90 points.

The Cotswold League is a team event with 20 teams competing in total in 4 rounds and a final between January and April each year. The age groups are 11/under, 13/under, 15/under and Open. The points from each round are added up to decide which of the 3 finals each team will compete in.

Thank you to everyone who swam, volunteered or supported on the night. Round 2 of the Cotswold League is at Hutton Moor in Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday 1st February.

Welcoming New Members

Forest of Dean Swimming Club (formerly Cinderford and Lydney Swimming Clubs) are looking for new members to join in our exciting future

We have squad’s for all abilities from Swim England Stage 5, to County, Regional and National swimmers and even a dedicated Masters section. We train up to 5 days a week over 2 sites at Freedom Leisure Cinderford and Lydney under our enthusiasic Head Coach Craig Skinner.

COB Christmas Cracker L3 Meet

Well done to everyone who competed at this Meet – plenty of great swims and new and improved County Qualifying times.

Soundwell Level 3 Meet 30 Nov and 1 Dec 2024

Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in a very successful weekend of swimming at the Open Meet at Hutton Moor in Weston.

There were plenty of exciting races with Forest of Dean swimming in their new swim hats being distinctive in the pool. The team of 23 swimmers managed 55 improved times and 13 new times for swimmers competing in events they had never swam before.

Emily achieved gold medals for 100 and 200 breaststroke and Millie in her 200 IM. Daisy, Thomas R, Molly, Harriet, George W, Imy, David and Toby all achieved silver medals and 14 bronze were also collected by Forest of Dean swimmers.

Forest of Dean Club Championships

We held this years Club Championships at Monmouth Schools Sports Club on Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and Saturday 16th November.

The aim of the Club Championships is to provide all swimmers, whatever their ability or age with the opportunity to take part in this competition.  

Medals and trophies were awarded at the Presentation Evening on Saturday 23rd November at Oaklands in Cinderford and a great evening celebrating the achievements of all the swimmers with their families.

English Channel Challenge finishing 30 August

The 2024 Challenge. During this year all our swimmers have been attempting to swim the equivalent of The English Channel from Dover to Calais (21 miles or 1351 lengths of our pool) – some of them numerous times

We have added up the lengths they swim each training session and the total of these distances are posted regularly on our notice board. 

This Challenge will finish on 30th August and certificates will be awarded soon after. So this is the final push to achieve your personal goals on this Challenge. Good luck everyone.

Gloucester City Open Meet 6 & 7 July 2024 (updated 13 July)

Well done everyone at the Gloucester City Open Meet the swimmers, poolside staff and officials.

We had great results throughout the weekend, 45 personal best times and 9 new times achieved by the swimmers. It was a weekend of sisterly gains, in the 400m IM Ella took gold and Grace silver, in the 100m Backstroke both Beatrice and Harriet achieved silver medals and in the 200m Butterfly Molly took the gold and Libby a bronze.

Phoebe qualified for Swim England National Championships 2024

We are all proud of Phoebe who has qualified for the Swim England National Championships to be held in Ponds Forge International Swimming Pool in Sheffield in August – Congratulations Phoebe

Gloucester Masters May Meet

Congratulations to Charlotte competing in her first Masters Meet and achieving a gold and silver medal for her 400m and 200m freestyle. All your team mates are very proud of you.
